That way we have more character customization. It would also be helpful if we had actual character classes with a specific skill tree to that class and then a universal one for the character. I don’t think having 10 characters per account is necessary. This would make more players interacting eachother i think. I thought when i bought early access that theres 1 skillpage that would make the difference between players.

Its pretty odd that you can do everything by yourself. I think suggestions for new features which naturally discourage alts will slowly move us from one reality to the other.

This is good for the game but there will of course be complaints from some who invested in the alt strategy and now faces limitations where they previously had it all. For example now that guilds are out they can make guild administration and guild buffs awkward when alts are involved. But many players aren’t and since it’s a live game I’m afraid there’s no way forward on this issue.ĭevs will have to fix this issue by forward progress only. I’m even willing to sacrifice my own personal progress in the game to achieve that goal. I think an alternate reality where Boundless didn’t have alts for easy 2boxing would be in a better position than we currently are in our reality. Nothing wrong with either stance, but this topic is certain to bring out both types who will talk passed each other endlessly. There’s a common miscommunication on the forums where some players want to discuss what’s best for the game and others want to discuss what’s best for them. Which I guess is a trap right now for the devs because a lot of people are used to them, and love them. I wonder if this is an issue of Boundless as a game needing to commit one way or the other? Like, the existence of alts and the metagaming you can do around them suggests that players should just be given more freedom overall on their individual characters (because they already have that freedom, it’s just on an effective 2-minute delay right now by the time you figure out your gear and which character and go through the switch)īut, if Boundless would rather emphasize player specialization, which it seems like it wants to for its mission & economy, it would need to pull the alts. Same with the light-up ability it’s great as a unique thing that makes a certain character better at mining, but with alts it becomes a reason to switch characters around more often. In practice, though, it mainly serves right now as a motivator to keep making a new character who’s under level 20 so you can send them out to gather on the surface whenever you need something. In theory, the speed and jump abilities lend themselves to a surface-gathering build, who can pull out an atlas and run around the map collecting things, regardless of what’s in their way. I think your example here of the movement abilities is actually a symptom of Boundless trying to emphasize players focusing on different builds. Making it more limited isn’t appealing to me, and I’d likely have quit the game months ago when exp slowed down at level 20-25 if we were forced to have a single character. Would like to see certain skills not require skill points, or be granted at X level for free, or more skill points. So yeah, I find things kind of limiting as is. Movement actually becomes fun, and yet how many people will wait till level 40+ to try these or just never get them at all? People talk about how cool it’d be to have the odd scary monster lurking in the mines… until you realize your miner doesn’t have any of the appropriate skills and that’d be more of a headache than anything. I wrote in another post how amazing it is to max out agility (or whatever the runspeed stat is) and get the high jump epic. You have to spend points to be a hammer master, but you also can’t master hammers and shovels EVEN IF you want to waste all those points.

I know there are many that do force choices other than that, but…īoundless has limited skill points + everything draws from them + you get locked out of certain epics. Maybe it’s because of the simplistic combat- most mmorpgs I’ve played have a fairly extensive class system, and that’s where a lot of the choice comes in.
